Hey everyone...
İ dont have much time to write so it wont be long...
school is...in a word...chaotic...lol...first they had 5 of us exchangers in one class...we were in 11th grade (seniors) and the whole first day we sat in an english class...it was weird hearing our own language taught. There's 8 periods in a day and in 3, they had us go and hear about picking classes and about the students last year and what they did wrong. Then in 8th period we picked our classes although our advisor didnt know how many we were to take or anything! İt was really frusturating for everyone!!! Finally we just picked 7...the eighth one had to be English because the whole school took it... We had to pick another language to minor in-our choices were french or german- i choose french because its very close to spanish and turkish... The other classes İ chose were Turkish language, Biology, Mathematics, phy.ed., geography (the only one in complete turkish), and lastly, Physics (eek!!!)... They werent sure if we'd get into our classes and they thought by Friday they'd have our schedules done. Our assigned class has about 12 girls and 2 boys!!! İt's crazy and small!!! and no practically no boys!!!!! hahaSo today we go to our assigned classroom (you stay in the same class and the teachers rotate) and we sit through almost 2 math courses all in turkish. Near the end of the second one, a man came in and started taking out the exchangers. İ was third to go. They took me to the 10th grade (junior) wing and practically shoved me into a class and left. Luckily, my good friend Majo was in the same scenario, although she had been in a class by herself before. İt was biology and we got there just in time so copy down the notes when the bell rang (its Für Elise)... Our new class has 5 girls and 12 boys :D Although everyone of them seems young and immature... After the quick Bio class, we had English for one period, geometry (as if once wasnt enough) for 2 periods, literature, and physics (eek!!) for two periods...All of them excpet English are half in turkish and half in english (just for us i think) although all the jokes and funny things are in turkish so we never understand why people are laughing...You're probably wondering now what my favorite class is...hmmmm... İ get a lot of attention in the English class but İ like physics the best. İt's surprisingly easy for me!!! Or at least today was. And the teacher is really funny!!! He's an older man and he talked in turkish for about 10 minutes. Then he asked me something and İ just gave him a blank stare because İ had no idea what was going on. The class explained and he immediatly turned over to English and had me and Majo write our names on the board. First Majo went because everyone has a hard time pronouncing her name--its really Marijosé which is easier for most but they want to know how to say Majo- and asked her what it meant, ect. Then he had me go although he could say mine fine. To my surprise he also asked me what mine went. İ had no idea and told him that and everyone laughed. Oh well... then as the class went on, he would ask us weird questions like "İs love a vector or scaler?" and so on...it was definitly my favorite class!!! Geometry on the other hand, was TERRİBLE!!!! First of all, at that time İ sat directly in front of hte teacher's desk who usually hovered over me. Then we began taking notes and the woman's english was so bad! her pronounciation was bad i mean...for example she ssounded like this "Eef tree consequentive nombers" when she wanted to say "İf three consecutive numbers"...then she put an example on the board and since i was right there hovered over me as i tried to see what it was...it looked like this...

Any ideas?? Yeah me neither...So after a minute of watching me stare at it, she said "Vou dont know how to do dis?" İ said "No" and she looked surprised as she began writing and said "Vou dont know how to divide!?!?!?"...İt was embarrassing but thats what their division looks like. For the rest of the class, she seemed to stand over my shoulder, watching me write and do problems...Once that class was done, İ breathed a sigh of relief and remembered how much İ hated geometry the first time...haha...
Well thats about all İ have time for...that was only my first two days!!!! İ'll make sure to write more sometime this week hopefully...İf you have any specific questions, dont hesitate to ask... on here or in an e-mail...İ also like hearing about whats going on back home so any interesting stories about anything you can e-mail me at emily_1669@hotmail.com... and another thing, İ sometimes e-mail pictures since they take forever to load onto here...if you'd like to be added to the mailing list, let me know...İ've already e-mailed some from my Kaş trip and will send more right after İ finish this. İf you dont get it, İ dont have your e-mail so give it to me!!!
Love and hugs and kisses from Turkey!!!!!
